I really like this recipe because I can make it the night before and just pop it in the oven the next morning - go back to sleep and wake up to yummy crusty sticky-bunesqe quality french toast


  • 1 Loaf French bread, 1 1/2" slices
  • 1 stick butter
  • 3/4 c brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 c milk
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 T vanilla


  • melt butter and add brown sugar to saucepan simmer until sugar is dissolved
  • layer bread in 9x12 casserole dish
  • beat eggs, then add vanilla and milk and pour mixture over bread
  • spread butter and sugar mixture over bread
  • cover with foil and put in fridge overnight
  • next morning, preheat oven to 350
  • put in covered dish for 30 min
  • uncover dish and cook for another 30-45 minutes or until tops of bread is crusty and egg is set.
