1 cup very finely cut almonds
1 cup butter
1 cup sugar
1 T Karo syrup
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup very finely chopped almonds
3 T water
Line a 13x9 pan with foil. Sprinkle 1/2 cup almonds on bottom of pan and set aside.
In a saucepan, melt butter. Stir in sugar, 3 T water, and Karo syrup. Cook until the candy thermometer reads 290° - stir frequently.
Pour mixture into the pan. Let stand 2-3 minutes then sprinkle with chocolate pieces. When chocolate is softened, spread evenly over mixture of nuts in pan. Sprinkle 1 cup almonds over chocolate and press. Put in the fridge. After hardened, break into pieces.
