8-12 slices *good* sourdough or white bread, crusts removed (enough to line the pan)
1/2 cup milk
2 cups Swiss cheese
2 cups Cheddar Cheese
freshly chopped chives
salt and pepper to taste
Grease a 9x12 pan.
Place slices of bread into the bottom of the pan until the bottom is covered.
Sprinkle one cup Swiss cheese and one cup cheddar cheese over the bread.
Salt and pepper.
Repeat with another layer of bread, swiss, cheddar, salt and pepper.
Chop up as many chives as you want and sprinkle over the top of the strata.
Beat milk and eggs together and pour over the entire strata.
Refrigerate at least one hour or overnight.
Bake in 350 degree oven for 30-40 minutes.
