ETHEL'S REFRIGERATOR BREAD AND BUTTER PICKLES

Ingredients

  • A bushall of pickling cucumbers (Sliced)
  • 3 onions sliced
  • 4 cups sugar
  • 4 cups vinegar
  • 1/3 cup plain salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp each turmeric, mustard seed and celery salt
  • Large Jar

Directions

  • Combine sugar and vinegar in small saucepan over low heat to dissolve sugar. Add spices. Pack sliced cucumbers and onions in jar very tight, add liquid and spices, seal and refrigerate.
  • Keep in Fridge for at least 24 hours then they are ready to eat

Notes

I never cared for these pickles when i was little. i was more of Dill pickle girl but as I get older and think of my mom and how she love to make them i have changed my mind and make these in the summer time
