Why I Love This Recipe

This dessert started with my mother who used to make it for us. I continued it with my kids and now my grandkids. This gets made just about any time we are together.

It originated as an 8X8 pan size so the ingredients reflect our best efforts to make it work for a 9X13.

Ingredients You'll Need

1 1/2cup flour
3/4 plus 1/3 cup sugar
3TBS cocoa
3 tsp baking powder
1/4 plus 1/8 tsp salt
3/4 plus 1/3 cup milk
3 TBS oil
1 1/2tsp vanilla
1- 1 1/2 cups chopped pecans
1 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 plus 1/8 cup cocoa
2 1/3 cup hottest tap water


Directions

Heat oven to 350. In an in greased 9X13 pan mix flour, sugar, 3 TBS cocoa, baking powder and salt. Mix in milk, oil and vanilla with a fork til well blended. Mix in nuts. Spread batter evenly in the pan. In a small mixing bowl mix the brown sugar and 1/4 cup plus 1/8 cups cocoa and sprinkle over the batter. Pour the hot water evenly over all. Bake approx. 40 min. Serve with vanilla ice cream while warm.
