FLORIDA ORANGE COOKIES

Ingredients

  • Cookies
  • 1 1/2 c sugar
  • 1 c butter
  • 1 c sour cream
  • 2 eggs
  • 4 c all purpose flour
  • 1 t baking soda
  • 1 t baking powder
  • 1/2 t salt
  • 2/3 c orange juice*
  • 3 T orange zest

  • There's a great lemon-lime cookie in the Betty Crocker Cookie Cookbook. These cookies go nicely with them for a summer (or Yule) party.

  • 1 1/2 c sugar
  • 1 c butter
  • 1 c sour cream
  • 2 eggs
  • 4 c all purpose flour
  • 1 t baking soda
  • 1 t baking powder
  • 1/2 t salt
  • 2/3 c orange juice*
  • 3 T orange zest
  • Frosting
  • 1/4 c butter
  • 2 c powdered sugar
  • 2-3 T orange juice*
  • 1 T orange zest
  • *I like Simply Orange; it balances the sweetness & doesn't add extra sugar; fresh is ideal, since you need the zest anyway
  • Oven at 375
  • 1. Cream butter & sugars
  • 2. Add sour cream & eggs. Beat well.
  • 3. Add flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, OJ & zest. Mix well.
  • 4. Drop rounded teaspoons or use cookie scoop to place on cookie sheet.
  • 5. Bake 8-11 minutes (edges will be light golden brown)
  • For frosting:
  • Beat all ingredients until smooth. Frost warm cookies.
  • Yields about 6 dozen large cookies.
