INGREDIENTS

  • Cooking Time: 20
  • 2 cups bisquick
  • 1/8 tsp. garlic powder
  • butter buds (I didn't measure, I just poured "a goodly amount. Might have been around 1/4 cup)
  • 1 heaping cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • 1/4 tsp. garlic powder
  • dash of salt
  • parsley

DIRECTIONS

Mix together:

2 cups bisquick

1/8 tsp. garlic powder

butter buds (I didn't measure, I just poured "a goodly amount. Might have been around 1/4 cup)

1 heaping cup shredded cheddar cheese

Stir in 2/3 cup milk and mix. I had to add a little more milk to get the right consistency because of adding the butterbud powder, I guess it was about 1 or 2 tablespoons.

Drop on greased or lined cookie sheet and bake at 450ºF for 15-20 minutes or till lightly browned. Remove from oven and brush generously with a mixture of:

1/3 cup melted butter

1/4 tsp. garlic powder

dash of salt

sprinkle with parsley.

I sprinkle the parsley in the butter mixture because I don't like "dry grass".

RECIPE BACKSTORY

The Red Lobster Cheddar Bay Biscuit Clone has been around for years and I've made it often, but why I always go looking for the recipe instead of winging it, I don't know. However, I'm glad I did because one search result informed me that RL uses the same powder mix for their biscuits as they do their shrimp scampi. Since I didn't have a dry scampi mix on hand, I used Butter Buds; the end result came out better than Red Lobster's!
