- 3 onions, thinly sliced
- ¼ cup butter
- 2 cans beef broth
- ½ cup water
- 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
- 4 slices French bread, toasted
- 4 slices Swiss cheese
- In a saucepan, cook onions in butter until onions safe tender. Add broth, water and Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a boil, reduce heat. Simmer, covered for 25 minutes.
- Spoon into bowls. Place a piece of French bread in each bowl, top with Swiss cheese and broil until cheese melts.
