FRENCH ONION SOUP

Ingredients

  • 3 onions, thinly sliced
  • ¼ cup butter
  • 2 cans beef broth
  • ½ cup water
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 4 slices French bread, toasted
  • 4 slices Swiss cheese

Directions

  • In a saucepan, cook onions in butter until onions safe tender. Add broth, water and Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a boil, reduce heat. Simmer, covered for 25 minutes.
  • Spoon into bowls. Place a piece of French bread in each bowl, top with Swiss cheese and broil until cheese melts.
