FRENCH BEANS WITH GARLIC AND CUMMIN SEEDS

Ingredients

  • 600 grams of french beans
  • 150 ml. of water
  • 3 cloves of garlic, squeezed
  • 1 tablespoon of lemonjuice
  • salt according to taste
  • half a teaspoon of cayenne pepper or a fresh Spanish pepper/chili, chopped
  • salt to taste
  • 75 ml. of olive oil
  • half a teaspoon [or more if you like] cummin seeds

Directions

  • 1 mix water, lemon juice, garlic, salt and pepper in a bowl
  • 2 heat the oil in a pan and fry the cummin seeds for a few seconds in the hot oil.
  • 3 add the french beans and stirfry for two minutes
  • 4 put the watermixture in the pan and cover
  • 5 bring to the boil, turn the heat low and simmer gently for 15 minutes
  • 6 uncover, turn the heat up and cook the liquid down till only a little, keep moving the beans in the meantime

Notes

I like French beans, you can use them in so many dishes and with so many spices and herbs. Cummin seeds are being used a lot in the countries of Central Asia and in India, so is garlic. Combining it with French beans makes a delicious vegetable dish.
