My Mom used to make these for our family back in the late 50's and 60's could smell these baking as coming down the road to home. mmmmm

this is just the way the recipe was written years back by an Aunt,


  • 1/2 C.margarine
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 1 ounce quares unsweetend chocolate, melt this
  • 1 t. vanilla
  • 1/2 c. sifted flour
  • 1/2 c. walnuts or pecans


  • Cream the butter and sugar till light and fluffy. beat in eggs blend in chocolate,vanilla,and flour. Add nuts.
  • Bake in a greased 8x8x2 inch pan at 325 for about 35 minutes, then let cool and can be cut into 16 squares
