  • 1 C long grain rice
  • 1 C sugar
  • ½ Gallon milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 C milk
  • 1 to 2 T vanilla to taste.


  • Pour above ingredients into dutch oven and bring to a boil. Stir and simmer for 1 hour with lid on. Stir occasionally.
  • In a Separate dish, beat:
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 C milk
  • Take a little of the hot mixture out of pan and mix with egg mixture (this helps prevent curdling of the eggs.) Stir egg mixture into rice.
  • Add 1 to 2 T vanilla to taste.
  • If too thick, add a little more milk. Pour into a 13” X 9” baking dish or serving bowl. Cool. Top with Cinnamon or nutmeg.
