- 1 cup rice
- 1 pound ground beef, browned
- small onion, diced
- 1 cup celery, diced
- 1 can chicken noodle soup
- 1 can mushroom soup
- 1 can water
- Mix together. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
- Transfer to casserole dish. Bake at 350 for approximately 1 hour, or until rice is cooked.
NotesWe had this recipe for the first time when we visited my grandparents (when I was a little girl). It was such a hit, that everyone knew what Grandma's Hot Dish was, without further explanation. Many years later, I saw the similar recipes popping up in hometown cookbooks.
