German Cheese Pie Squares

Ingredients

Crust:
1 cup plus 4 tablespoons flour
3/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 cup sugar
1 egg, beaten
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter or margarine

Sift flour, baking powder and sugar. Mix in butter with fingers. Add beaten egg and keep mixing until thoroughly combined. Pat into a greased 9 x 13-inch baking pan. Set aside.

Pineapple Filling:
1 small (8 ounce) can crushed pineapple
2 tablespoons flour
1 tablespoon sugar


Pour pineapple, flour, sugar into small pan and cook until thick and then cool. Spread over crust before adding cheese filling. Note: cherry pie filling, blueberry, etc. can be used instead of pineapple mixture.


Cheese Pie Filling:


2 packages (8 oz each) cream cheese


3 beaten eggs


1-1/2 tablespoon flour


1 cup sugar


1 teaspoon vanilla


1-1/2 cup milk


With electric beater, cream flour into cheese, add beaten eggs. Add sugar, vanilla, and milk. Pour over pineapple filling. Sprinkle cinnamon on the top. Bake in preheated 350 degree oven 50 minutes. Remove from oven, cool on wire rack. Chill in refrigerator a few hours until completely cold. Cut into squares and serve. Keep leftovers refrigerated.
