GERMAN CHOCOLATE FROSTING

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1 can evaporated milk
  • 1 1/2 sticks butter
  • 4 egg yolks, slightly beaten
  • 2 1/3 cups coconut
  • 1 1/2 cups chopped pecans

Directions

  • Combine sugar, vanilla, butter, evaporated milk and egg yolks. Cook until thickens (about 20 minutes) stirring constantly. Add coconut and pecans after done cooking.
  • Can toast coconut and pecans.

Notes

I hired a girl, Jody, as an entry level just before she headed off to college. She used to make this for us and many brownie points were earned as a result of it!
