GLUWEIN OR HOT GERMAN SANGRIA

 

  • Cooking Time: at least 2 hours
  • Servings: 15 cups
  • Preparation Time: 10 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 large orange
  • 1 large lemon
  • 20 whole cloves
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 gal. burgandy wine
  • 16 oz. rum
  • 1 cup of sugar

Directions

  • Prepared in an oval large crockpot. Pour in the wine and add the cinnamon sticks. Cut lemon and orange in half. Take the whole cloves and insert them into the RIND of the fruits - 5 in each half - and add to the wine. Let cook on high for a hour or two. Remove the lemon and orange halves, remove cloves and then squeeze juices back into the wine (HOT!). You then add the rum to the wine and then add the sugar. Turn crockpot to low or warm and serve with a ladle.
