Grandad Alan's special sauce

Serves 15 | Prep Time 20-30 mins | Cook Time 6-8 hrs

Ingredients

4 cans of plum tomatoes (the best you can get)
1/2 a bottle of red wine
1 garlic bulb
4 bay leaves
And some meat if you want I like to use brisket of beef


Sieve the tomatoes into a big pan make sure there isn't any seeds in the tomato juice


Bring the tomato juice to the boil


Add half the bottle of wine, garlic, bay leaves and meat if using


Leave to simmer for 6/8 hours


Then serve with bread or pasta or use in recipes

My father in law always used to make this sauce which he learnt from his mother. When ever he made it he was always let me know that there has been a tomato explosion and to come round in6-8 hours to get some sauce. Now me, my partner and our son all make it together!
