Grandma's Fruit Krinkle
Topping-this will all depend on how big a baking dish you are cooking in but for a 9x11 pan:
1/2c butter or margarine
1/2c brown sugar
1/2c rolled oats
1/4c chopped pecans
Mix all ingredients until it makes a "crumble". I find it is easiest to just get in and use your hands!
Spread krinkle evenly over the top of pie filling that is poured into a prepared baking dish.
Bake at 350 degrees F until top is golden and filling is bubbling. Usually about 25 minutes.
Yummy served with French Vanilla ice cream or fresh whipped cream.
NOTE: The measurements are all equal, with nuts being half. So, for a larger dessert just increase the measurements. I like my topping to completely cover the pie filling but, you can always use less and have the fruit bubble over the topping.
Pairs Well With
This is a "staple" in my house...I always have the ingredients because if you ever need to throw a dessert together this is E-A-S-Y! My grandma used to make this when we were growing up and my mom always had the ingredients in the house, too! It works with ANY fruit pie filling, fresh, frozen or canned. My favorite is peach. The peaches that grow in the area I live are FANTASTIC and a real treat when we can have them fresh! I have added chopped pecans to the original recipe.
