Why I Love This Recipe
This recipe is from my Hubby's grandmother, given to me from her on a typed sheet, yes typewriter-typed. Grandma was the sweetest and most loving woman. She and Gramps were so sweet together. She always loved sharing recipes she had collected, taking the time to type or write out on a recipe card for me.
Ingredients You'll Need
4 cans green beans, drained (or frozen equivalent)
1 can butter beans, drained
6 slices bacon, chopped
1 med onion, chopped
1 c. Brown sugar
1 c. Ketchup
Directions
Place all beans in crockpot.
Sauté bacon and onion together.
Pour off some of the grease, use some to flavor the beans.
Place bacon and onion mixture on top of the beans.
Mix together brown sugar and ketchup, then pour over other ingredients.
Mix gently.
Cook on low 4 hours.
If you want to bake as casserole, cook at 250F for 2 hours.
May be cooked ahead of time and reheated as needed.
