GRANDPA'S POUND CAKE
Grandpa's Pound Cake
My mom got this recipe from my grandpa. It is the best pound cake I've ever had. We always play a game of "quietest in the kitchen" while it bakes, lol.
INGREDIENTS
- 1/2 pound of butter
- 1 2/3 cups sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 5 eggs (separated)
- 2 cups AP flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
DIRECTIONS
Cream butter and sugar.
Add egg yolks one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Add vanilla.
Sift flour and dry ingredients several times, add gradually and beat until smooth and fluffy. Fold in beaten egg whites.
Bake in tube pan in oven at 350 degrees for about an hour or until cake comes away from pan at the edges.
