These sandwiches are quite good. You can add whatever you like, to "jazz" them up, but are very good just as is.

For each sandwich, you will need: (use as much as you like)

  • Hoagie bun, split (not all of the way through)
  • thin sliced deli ham
  • sliced provolone cheese
  • oregano flakes
  • olive oil
  • sliced green pepper
  • sliced onion
  • salt and pepper

  • add any if desired: hard salami, sliced pepperoni, sliced tomato, a different kind of cheese etc...
  • In a skillet saute the green pepper and onion in olive oil until tender-crisp. Drain oil and season with salt and pepper. Set aside.
  • On each hoagie bun, layer on the ham, provolone cheese and the sauteed green pepper and onion. Drizzle with a little more olive oil, and sprinkle on the oregano leaves. Wrap each sandwich in foil and bake at 375 for 20-25 minutes, or until cheese is melted and sandwiches are heated through.
