2 tablespoons sugar
red food couloring
6 tablespoons butter,softened
3 tablespoons light brown sugar
3 tablespoons maple syrup
1 medium egg
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
medium heart shaped cookie cutter
Put sugar in a bowl and add two drops of food coloring. Stir the sugar until it's pink. Then, spread it out on a plate to dry
Put the butter and brown sugar into a large bowl. Stir them hard until they are creamy, then stir in the maple syrup.
Carefully break the egg into a small bowl pour it slowly onto a saucer. Then, put a cup over the yolk.
Hold the cup over the yolk and carefully tip the saucer over the small bowl so that the egg white dribbles into it.
Add the yolk to the large bowl and mix it in well. Add the flour and stir it and well, then squeeze the mixture to make a dough. Wrap the dough in plastic food wrap and put it in the refrigerator to chill for half an hour. Well it's in there, turn on your oven.
Sprinkle a Clean surface with flour. Then, use a rolling pin to roll out the dough until does about 1/4 inch thick. Use the medium cutter to cut out heart shapes. Then, lift the hearts onto a cookie sheets with a spatula.
Cut holes in the heart with a small cutter. Using the Fork, stir the egg whites quickly for a few seconds brush some onto each cookie, then sprinkle them with Pink Sugar.
Bake the cookies for 10 to 12 minutes, until they start to turn gold. Carefully lift them out of the oven leave cookies on the cookie racks to cool.
