HOMEMADE GRAPE NUTS

Ingredients

  • 5 lbs. Whole Wheat Flour
  • 1/2 gallon Buttermilk
  • 1 tablespoon Salt
  • 1 1/2 stick Oleo (melted)
  • 1 pt Sugar
  • 1 pt Sorghum
  • 3 teaspoon Baking Soda

Directions

  • Dissolve Baking Soda in the Buttermilk.
  • Mix all ingredients well
  • Bake at 325 for 45 minutes
  • Grind and put back into the oven at 125 degrees
  • Bake for several hours.

Notes

Mom had this recipe and had written that a Mrs. Yoder gave her the recipe. Mrs. Yoder was a sweek Amish lady at Rockhome Gardens in Arcola, Illinois. The recipe was given to Mom in July of 1989.
