INGREDIENTS

  • Servings: 2 pizza crusts
  • Preparation Time: About 90 minutes
  • 2 1/4 tsp of yeast
  • 1 tsp of salt
  • 1 TBS of sugar
  • 3 TBS of olive oil
  • 1 cup of warm water
  • About 4 cups of flour, give or take

DIRECTIONS

Mix the yeast, salt, sugar and warm water together until the yeast and sugar dissolve and tiny bubbles form. Add the olive oil and stir. Add the flour slowly, 1/2 cup at a time, mixing it in with your hands until the dough feels elastic, but not too sticky. Let rise for an hour or so, until the dough doubles in size. Grease a pizza pan with olive oil, then pat the dough out with your hands and top with whatever you want. I like caramelized onions and feta.

RECIPE BACKSTORY

One of the two things my mom made sure I knew how to make before I went off to college. This is the best dough recipe ever. The crust comes out light, but not too crispy, soft, not soggy and has good flavor, thanks to the olive oil.
