1 small can Contadina tomato paste
2 large cans Contadina tomato sauce
3/4 of one (above) large can water
1/4 cup fresh grated parmesan
1 tsp red pepper flakes
1 Tbsp fresh/finely chopped garlic
1/2 tsp sugar
1/2 tsp oregano
1 Tbsp parsley
one whole onion, peeled

Combine all ingredients into a large sauce pan. Place in whole peeled onion. Bring to a soft boil over medium heat. When boiling begins, turn heat to medium-low and cover. Allow to cook a minimum of 45 minutes. After this time, remove the whole onion and discard. Turn sauce back up to medium heat until a soft boil. Mix and form meatballs and place in sauce. Allow to cook an additional hour (keep a close eye on meat and the sauce. If too high a boil, reduce heat and carefully stir meat and sauce often). For those who wish, you can also add hot sausage links to the sauce with the meatballs
