James W’s M&M Cookie Recipe, modified from Robbi’s M&M Cookie recipe
1 cup( 225 ml )packed brown sugar Homogeneous mixture
1/2 cup white sugar (118ml) Pure Substance
1 cup shortening (18fl. oz.) Homogeneous mixture
2 eggs (Heterogenous mixture)
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract (2ml) Homogeneous mixture
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (568) Homogeneous
1 teaspoon baking soda (5ml) Pure substance
1 teaspoon salt (15ml) Puresubstance
1 1/2 cups candy-coated milk chocolate pieces (625ml) Homogeneous
In a large bowl, mix sugar, eggs, shortening, and vanilla thoroughly. Add flour, salt, and baking soda to creamed mixture. Blend well. Add 3/4 cup of M&M candies.
Drop dough by teaspoonful onto cookie sheet. Slightly push a few candies on top of each dough ball with remaining candies.
Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 9 to 11 minutes, to your liking.

I had found this recipe just a few days ago. It’s an old recipe but is said the be a treat every time! If you look in the recipe then you can see when things start to turn into hetero and homogeneous mixtures. And look at the ingredients to see pure substances. It’s a physical change when you mix the shortening, eggs and vanilla. Another is when they heat up they go through a physical change. A chemical would be when they rise in the oven. And another would be the cookies would go through an unexpected change in color when they brown. Those would be the chemical and physical changes.
