Why I Love This Recipe
A woman I work with brings this in to share with us. Her mom has made this for years. She thinks she got it from the back of a box years ago. This makes a great bake sale item or a food gift, wrapped in plastic wrap with a bow to give to friends and co-workers.
Ingredients You'll Need
1c. Blanched Slivered Almonds; 1/2c. oleo/margarine--- recomended---regular Blue Bonnet; 1T. light corn syrup; 1/2c sugar; Also, recomended- heavy bottomed skillet. 8 or 9" round pie pan, greased with some butter or oleo.
Directions
grease generously with butter or margerine the round pie pan and set aside. Combine in the heavy bottomed skillet, almonds, blue bonnet, sugar and corn syrup. Bring to a boil stirring constantly until the mixture turns a nice golden brown color. this takes about 5 to 6 minutes.. Working quickly, spread the mixture into the round greased pie pan. cool till firm. This can then be presented as a round disk that you can cover with plastic wrap and tie a bow on it and give for a bake sale, or as a special gift to someone special. Or break it up and and eat it.
