Why I Love This Recipe


Ingredients You'll Need

3/4 cup shortening
1 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
2 eggs slightly beatened
1 teaspoon shredded lemon peel
1 tablespoon lemon juice
2/3 cup sour cream
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
2/3 cup chopped walnuts

FROSTING:
3 tablespoons butter
2 cup confectioners' sugar
2 tablespoon milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract


Directions

In a small bowl stir together flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt and nutmeg; set aside.


In a large bowl, cream shortening and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in lemon peel and lemon juice. Beat in the egg, sour cream and vanilla.


Add to the creamed mixture and mix well. Stir in chopped walnuts.


Drop by tablespoonfuls 2 in. apart onto greased baking sheets. Bake


at 375° for 8-10 minutes or until lightly browned. Remove to wire


racks to cool.


For frosting, melt butter in a saucepan until golden brown; stir in confectioners' sugar, vanilla and milk.


Frost cooled cookies. You can top each cookie with frosting and walnut half if desired.
