Why I Love This Recipe
Japanese food and language were all I knew until age 5 albeit I'm an American of European descent. Tokyo was my hometown until age 18 when I moved to LA. I've lived in California for a good many years now. However, my love for the bitter taste of Japanese matcha (green tea) merging with chocolate remains strong. So, for this year's Christmas cookies, I created Japanese Matcha Green Tea Christmas Wreath Cookies.
Ingredients You'll Need
1 roll refrigerated sugar cookie dough
¼ cup powdered sugar
2½ tablespoons matcha green tea powder
Directions
Knead the sugar and matcha green tea powder into the dough. (Plastic gloves help to keep your hands free of green.) Between wax paper, roll out the matcha sugar cookie dough. Cut out circles with a biscuit cutter. With a smaller circle, punch out a smaller circle in the center. Bake on parchment lined cookie sheets in a 350 degrees oven for 12 minutes. When the cookies come out of the hot oven, reinforce the center circles. Press on the M & Ms.
