KARTAPLYANAYA BABKA (POTATO BABKA)
For 4 people
10 middle-sized potatoes (or 5-6 big)
500 g pork with fat
1 soup spoon of cumin
Wash, pill and grate potato.
Chop onions and pork (pork with fat is better) in small pieces and fry on a pan.
Add salt, pepper and bay leaves (only if you like it!).
When it is almost ready add 1 spoon of sugar.
Heat an oven.
Put some fat from the fried pork to the baking form.
Add salt, cumin and part of fried onions to the grated potato (do not pour liquid from it!).
Put half of potato to the baking form, than layer of pork with onions and fat, than once again layer of potato.
Make the top smooth with spoon and keep for 1 hour in the oven at 180 Celcius (do not cover the form).
To be served hot with sour cream or milk.
