Kentucky Derby Brownies

Serves | Prep Time | Cook Time


1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup (2 sticks) butter or margarine
2 cups sugar
3/4 cup cocoa
4 eggs
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup chocolate chips
1 cup chopped pecans
2 tablespoons bourbon

Heat Oven to 350 degrees. Grease 13x9 baking pan.

Place butter in large microwave-save bowl. Microwave on High 1 to 2 minutes or until melted. Stir in sugar, vanilla, and bourbon. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well with spoon after each addition. Add Cocoa, beat until well blended. Add flour, baking powder, and salt. Beat well. Stir in nuts and chocolate chips. Pour batter into prepared pan.

Bake 30 to 35 minutes or until brownies begin to pull away from side of pan. Cool Completely in pan on wire rack.
