2 Large, diced tomatoes
1/2 Teaspoon salt
1/2 Teaspoon garlic powder
2 Tablespoons red wine vinegar
2 Tablespoons brown sugar
Combine all ingredients in a saucepan and cook over medium heat for about 10 minutes. Set aside to cool. Transfer to a blender and puree until smooth.

In days past ketchup was made from mushrooms or walnuts or mussels but now we use tomatoes.
