Kfc Mashed Potatoes & Gravy Clone

Ingredients

1 Tbsp Vegetable Oil
4 1/2 Tbsp Flour
1 can Campbell's Chicken Broth Plus 1 Can Water
1/4 tsp Salt
1/8 tsp MSG Or Accent Flavor Enhancer
1/8 tsp Black Pepper
1 1/2 cup Water
1/2 cup Milk
3 Tbsp Butter
1/2 tsp Salt
1 1/2 cup Instant Mashed Potato Flakes


*First make a roux by combining the oil with 1 1/2 Tbsp of flour in a medium saucepan over low to medium heat; heat the mixture for 20 to 30 minutes, stirring often, until it is a chocolate color


*Remove the roux from the heat, add the remaining ingredients to the saucepan and stir


*Put the saucepan back over the heat, turn it up to medium and bring the gravy to a boil; reduce heat and simmer for 10-15 minutes or until thick


*As the gravy is reducing, prepare potatoes by combining 1 1/2 cup water, 1/3 cup milk, and butter and 1/2 tsp salt in a medium saucepan over medium heat; bring to a boil, then remove from heat


*Add the potato flakes and whip with a fork until fluffy


*Serve the mashed potatoes with gravy poured over the top...as if you didn't know



Recipe Tips:


*If Campbell's Chicken Broth is not available, you can use 2 of any chicken stock
