KIM'S CHEATER TURKEY STUFFING

  • Preparation Time:

Ingredients

  • 1 box Betty Crocker Butter and Herb Instant Potatoes (2 pouch box)
  • 1 box Stove Top Stuffing for turkey
  • 1/2 pkg. Maple Leaf Ready Bacon, heated as per directions and chopped
  • 1 large onion, chopped and sauteed in a bit of oil
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp. summer savory (or to taste) or sub. desired herbs/spices
  • turkey drippings

Directions

  • Mix both envelopes of instant potatoes as directed on the box. I make them more creamy than stiff. When they are desired consistancy, stir in stuffing mix, bacon, onion, salt, pepper and summer savory (my husband likes a lot of savory - use any amount you would suit your taste. Mix and put in a greased casserole dish (I used a 9 " pan and it was heaped up a bit. Use a larger one if you prefer) Fill a turkey baster with drippings and squeeze evenly over stuffing. This is the secret to make it taste like it was actually cooked in the turkey! Bake at 350 for about 1/2 hour. I like mine a bit crispy around the edges. I usually bake this while I am making gravy and my husband is carving the turkey. It's ready to serve when we are ready to eat our meal. This is an easy "mix and match" type recipe. Use what's on hand and feel free to substitute spices, etc

Notes

One year at Thanksgiving, I was running short on time to get my turkey stuffing done. I happened to have a box of instant potatoes and Stove Top stuffing mix in my cupboard (2 items that are not staples in my house!!). So I put together this quick recipe that ends up tasting almost as good as the real thing. So, if time is an issue, give this a try!
