2/3 cup butter-flavored Crisco
3/4 cup sugar
1 T plus 1 tsp milk
1 tsp vanilla
2 cups flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
Cream the Crisco, sugar, milk and vanilla in a large bowl. Beat in egg. Combine the flour, baking powder and salt. Mix into creamed mixture. Cover and refrigerate several hours or overnight.
Heat oven to 375°. Roll half the dough at a time to about 1/8" thickness on a floured surface. Cut into shapes. Place 2" apart on ungreased cookie sheet (or line the sheet with parchment paper). Sprinkle with colored sugar or leave plan to frost when cool.
Bake at 375° for 7-9 minutes. Cool.
