LOIS'S PIE CRUST

Backstory

Mom makes the best pies. I've tried to make the crust like hers, but to no success. When she no longer will make the pie for a family holiday meal, we will have to switch to cake for dessert. (Unless one of the grandchildren master her pie crust.)

Ingredients

  • 1/3 c. + 1 T. shortening (lard)
  • 1 c. flour
  • 1/2 t. salt
  • 2-3 T. cold water

Directions

  • Mix the dry ingredients. Cut in the shortening. Mix in the water gradually, until the right consistency. Chill before rolling out.
