"Simple, delicious, homemade sandwich bread!"

Serves 10 | Prep Time 2 hours | Cook Time 30 minutes

Ingredients

1 package active dry yeast
2-1/4 cups warm water
3 tablespoons sugar
1 tablespoon salt
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
6-1/4 to 6-3/4 cups bread of all purpose flour


Mix yeast, warm water, sugar and salt in bowl. Let sit for 15 minutes or until yeast is foamy.

Add flour, knead 8-10 minutes by hand, or 5 minutes by stand mixer. Let rise 1.5 hours.

Punch dough down, place into baking pans and let rise 30 more minutes.

Bake 30 minutes at 375 or until hollow when knocked.

Notes

This is my grandma's white bread recipe that she has made since the 1940s for her family. It is something that the family remembers fondly and that she has raised 6 children feeding! A timeless classic.
