Melt in your mouth biscuits!

i love these biscuits. original recipe is found in 2007 southern living magazine which calls for wheat flour and all buttermilk.

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 1/4 self rising flour
  • 1/ 1/4 (1/2 buttermilk and 1/2 heavy cream)
  • 1 TBSP sugar
  • 1/2 c shortening

DIRECTIONS

Mix flour and sugar. Blend shortening into flour mixture with fork or pastry blender. add liquid and mix. the mixure will be very sticky. use about 1/4 c self rising flour to cover counter to knead dough; dough should not be as sticky. Don't over knead; knead no more than 10 times. roll out and cut. back at 400 for about 12-15 minutes. brush with butter.


if you want to make garlic cheese biscuits, leave out the sugar and add about 1 to 1 1/2 c shredded cheese. brush tops with garlic butter.
