Mild Italian Skinless Sausage, Peppers and Caramelized Onions. Doing Low Carb, I just OMIT THE BUN
Mild Italian Sausage
1.Remove the skin around the sausage
2.Slice the onion into thin slices
3.Remove seeds from green pepper and slice thinly
4. Add 1 tbsp olive oil to a non-stick skillet
5.Add sausage to the skillet and cook over medium heat, turning so all sides are cooked evenly
6.When the sausage is close to being done, add green peppers and continue to cook , but on low heat.
7. When peppers are crisp but tender, add the onions.
8. Place cover over top of skillet until onions start to soften.
9. Once onions soften , remove cover, keep the onions and peppers moving so the will not burn . Continue this until onions caramelize.
Once onions are caramelized, it is done.
This is good with a hot dog bun or over rice, but this adds carbs. So to make it as carb free as possible, omit the buns or rice.
