Mint Juleps

CATEGORIES

INGREDIENTS

  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 bunch fresh mint (about 1/2 cup packed), plus extra sprigs for garnish, washed and dried (leave stems on)
  • 8 cups bourbon

DIRECTIONS

To make a simple syrup, combine sugar and 1/2 cup water in a saucepan. Place over high heat and bring to a boil, stirring the mixture to dissolve the sugar. Boil for 5 minutes.

Remove from heat and stir in mint. Set aside in the refrigerator for 24 hours. Strain the mixture into a jar and discard the mint.

Chill glasses in the freezer before making juleps. Fill them with crushed ice. Add 11?2 tsp. mint syrup and 2 oz. bourbon to each glass; stir. Garnish with mint sprigs, if desired
