Mixed Fruits and Vegetables Rojak (Malaysian)

Serves 4 | Prep Time 35 minutes | Cook Time 5 minutes


1 small bangkuang,peeled
1 cucumber
1 small unripe papaya,peeled
1 unripe mango,peeled and pitted
1/4 pineapple
100g roasted peanuts,coarsely ground

Rojak sauce
3 large chillies,deseeded
2 teaspoon belachan ( dried shrimp paste ), roasted
5 teaspoons tarmarind juice
3 tablespoons hae ko ( fermented prawn sauce )
6 tablespoons sugar
** you can also buy the ready made rojak sauce from Asian supermarket.

Cut all fruits to bite size.

To prepare the Rojak sauce,grind the chillies and belachan in a mortar.

Add the tarmarind juice, hae ko and sugar, stir to mix well.

Toss the fruits, Rojak sauce and half the peanut in a mixinig bowl.

Transfer to a serving dish and sprinkle the rest of the crushed peanut over it.

Serve immediately.

Pairs Well With


Rojak- A delicacy in Malaysia and Singapore;which basically is a salad dish served in chilli base salad sauce.

My family will not miss this whenever we go back to Malaysia.
