Ingredients You'll Need

2/3 cup shortening
2c. sifted cake flour
1 1/4c. sugar
1 Tblsp. instant coffee
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
1/4 tsp. baking soda

1/2c. water
1 tsp. vanilla

3 eggs
2-1oz. sq. unsweetened chocolate, melted

powdered sugar


Directions

Stir shortening to soften.


Stir in cake flour, sugar, instant coffee, salt,


cream of tartar & baking soda.


Add water & vanilla;


Mix until flour is dampened.


Then beat vigorously 2 min.


Add eggs & 2-1oz. sq. unsweetened chocolate, melted;


Beat 1 min. longer.


Pour into waxed paper-lined 9 1/2 x 5 x 3 in. loaf pan.


Bake in slow oven (325 deg.) about 65 to 70 min., or until done.


Cool in pan 10 min.; remove.


When thoroughly cool, sift powdered sugar over top.
