3/4 Cup Shortening
1 Cup Brown sugar, packed
4 Tbsps. Molasses
1/4 Tsp. Salt
2 1/4 Cups Flour, sifted
2 Tsp. Soda
1 Tsp. Cinnamon
1/2 Tsp. Cloves
1 Tsp. Ginger
Cream shortening, add sugar and beat well. Blend in egg and molasses.
Sift dry ingredients and stir in mix.
Chill an hour or more - then shape into balls.
Dip top into granulated sugar, place on a greased cookie sheet.
Sprinkle 2 to 3 drops of water on each cookie and bake at 350° 10 to 12 minutes.
