- 3 pds ground round
- 1 yellow onion
- 1 cup diced celery
- 2 cups catsup
- ½ c. water
- 3 T. vinegar
- 1 T. sugar
- 3 T. yellow mustard
- 1/3 c. oatmeal
- Brown onion, celery, and ground round. Drain. Mix together catsup, water, vinegar, mustard, sugar and oatmeal. Simmer 45-60 minutes until celery is soft. Best served on a whole wheat hamburger bun with a slice of cheddar cheese and a layer of snack-ems dill pickles. Makes great leftovers too!!
NotesAlthough it looks like an odd combo, this is a great recipe. The secret is the cheese and the pickles, they are a must!! It can also be made with ground turkey.
Note: I usually cut this recipe in half.
