Mom's Favorite Sand Cookies
2 cups Imperial Margarine
2 cups sugar
3-1/4 cups flour
1/4 cup finely grated oat bran
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1-1/2 tsp. almond extract
2 tsp. pure vanilla extract
1 cup chopped almonds
In first bowl beat margarine and sugar until creamy.
Add vanilla and almond extracts.
In second bowl sift flour, salt, baking soda, oat bran, and baking powder.
Slowly add second bowl mixture to first bowl.
Beat until airy.
Add almonds and mix together.
Roll into 1-1/2 inch balls and put on ungreased cookie sheet.
Press with a flat cookie press or bottom of flat glass.
Add your favorite sprinkles ( I use the tiny round colored sugar beads)
Bake 20-25 minutes at 300 degrees.
