- 2 lb ground beef, browned
- 3 cloves garlic
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 T each basil, parsley, oregano
- 1/4 t pepper
- 1/4 t anise
- 1/2 t thyme
- 1/2 t carroway seed
- 1 t salt
- 30 oz crushed tomato
- 15-30 oz tomato sauce
- red wine to taste
- Simmer at least one hour
- Variation: substitute a jar of pre-made sauce for the tomato sauce, and change crushed tomato to 15 oz.
