My Mom's Best Chili

Ingredients

1 lb ground beef
2 medium onions
2 16-oz cans tomatoes
1 6-oz can tomato paste
1 green pepper
1/2 lb kidney beans
2 T chili powder
1 t sugar
Salt and pepper
About 12-oz water


Brown beef and onions, drain off fat. Mix all ingredients except kidney beans in kettle; bring to boil, then simmer for 4-5 hours. Kidney beans should be soaked over night or simmered in water for 3-4 hours before adding to chili. Add about 1/2 hour before serving.
