MY MOM'S GRASSHOPPER BROWNIES

My Mom's Grasshopper Brownies

These are a favorite of my boys and my mom made them for them all of the time....

INGREDIENTS

  • Brownies:
  • 1/2 cup butter, soft
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 can chocolate syrup (16oz)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • Middle Layer:
  • 1/4 cup butter, softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons creme de menthe
  • 2-3 drops of green food color
  • Frosting:
  • 6 ounces chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup butter

DIRECTIONS

Brownies:


Cream together the butter and sugar.


Beat until this is fluffy.


Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each one.


Mix together the flour annd salt.


Add this to the butter mixture, mixing alternately with chocolate syrup.


Stir in vanilla.


Pour into greased and floured 13x9 baking pan.


Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes, Cool completely.


Middle layer:


Mix butter, powdered sugar,creme de menthe and food color in small bowl.


Mix thoroughly.


Spread over brownies.


Cover and refrigerate for at least an 1 hour.


Frosting:


Put the chocolate chips and butter in small pan, melting on low heat, stirring until smooth.


Spread over brownies.


Cover and refrigerate.


Cut into squares, enjoy!
