Nana's Date and Walnut Cake

Serves | Prep Time 20 mins | Cook Time 40-45 mins


4 oz sugar
4 oz margarine
2 eggs
8 oz SR flour
1/2 tsp. mixed spice
4 oz walnuts, chopped
4 oz dates, chopped
3 tbsp. milk

1. Preheat oven to gas mark 4

2. Grease a loaf tin

3. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy

4. Add egg bit at a time

5. Sift in dry ingredients

6. Mix together

7. Mix in dates and walnuts

8. Pour into tin and level out

8. Place in oven until firm to touch and golden brown

Me and nana love dates and walnuts so we searched through our recipe books and found this one. It's a very delicious loaf bake and most packed with dates and nuts. Makes for a tasty lunchtime treat.
