NANA'S DATE AND WALNUT CAKE

Ingredients

  • 4 oz sugar
  • 4 oz margarine
  • 2 eggs
  • 8 oz SR flour
  • 1/2 tsp. mixed spice
  • 4 oz walnuts, chopped
  • 4 oz dates, chopped
  • 3 tbsp. milk

Directions

  • 1. Preheat oven to gas mark 4
  • 2. Grease a loaf tin
  • 3. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy
  • 4. Add egg bit at a time
  • 5. Sift in dry ingredients
  • 6. Mix together
  • 7. Mix in dates and walnuts
  • 8. Pour into tin and level out
  • 8. Place in oven until firm to touch and golden brown

Notes

Me and nana love dates and walnuts so we searched through our recipe books and found this one. It's a very delicious loaf bake and most packed with dates and nuts. Makes for a tasty lunchtime treat.
