Why I Love This Recipe
When I got gochujang at a supermarket, I combined gochujang and peanut butter hoping that it would be almost the same taste as the Peanut Miso which I love and used to eat in Japan. And it was! gochujag and peanut butter might sound wired but those brings out pleasant flavor. Then I got an idea that it must work for spread for sandwiches because I used to eat Peanut Miso with rice. But just spreading is boring. I often hear that people say, “Bacon makes everything perfect”. Bacon and peanut butter, who hates that paring? This is how I created this recipe. You can't find this sandwich anywhere else but even if you are not familiar with gochujang, you will find this sandwich so irresistible and love it which is why I am sharing this recipe/
Ingredients You'll Need
2 Slices Whole Wheat Bread (1 slice about 1.5 oz)
4 slices Bacon
2 slices Swiss Cheese
2 tablespoons Unsalted Butter
1 tablespoon Crunchy Peanut butter
1 teaspoon Gochujang
1 teaspoon Real Mayonnaise
Directions
1. In a bowl, mix together gochujang, peanut butter and mayonnaise. Divide the butter into 3 pieces.
2. In a hot skillet, cook bacon (without oil) until crisp. Drain on paper towels and set aside.
3. Melt 1 piece of butter in a skillet over medium heat until foaming subsides. Add 2 bread slices and cook, swirling occasionally until brown on bottom side. Transfer to a cutting board cooked-side-up. Spread gochujang mixture on one slice bread and place bacon and swiss cheese. Put the other bread, cooked side down, to close sandwich.
4. Melt 1 piece of butter in the same skillet and reduce heat to medium-low heat. Add sandwich and cook, swirling occasionally until golden brown. Take the sandwich out (put on a cutting board or plate) and add the last 1 piece of butter to the skillet. When the butter melts, return the sandwich to the skillet, cooked-side up. Cook, swirling occasionally, until second side is golden brown and cheese are thoroughly melted.
