Party Green Beans
2 (9 oz.) pkgs. frozen French-style green beans
3 Tb. butter
3 Tb. flour
1 1/2 c. milk or half-and-half
salt and pepper to taste
onion salt to taste
worcestershire sauce to taste
1 (6 oz.) can broiled mushroom crowns*
1/4 lb. cashew nuts
Cook beans according to pkg. directions.
Melt butter; blend in flour. Stir in milk and cook. stirring constantly, 'til sauce is thickened. Season w/ salt, pepper, onion salt and worcestershire sauce.
Drain beans and mushrooms; combine with sauce. Stir in cashews and heat through.
Kay's note: * I've never ever found broiled mushroom crowns. I just have always either used fresh mushrooms that I've sautéed in butter or a can of mushroom pieces and stems. Lately I've been using canned shitake mushrooms. Yum !!
